Technology is so marvelous!
One of the best tablets available today, the Kindle Fire HDX Tablet is the newest Kindle from Amazon and it is nothing less than impressive, with all of the exciting features that you would expect from a Kindle Fire, but with a lot of extras that make the device stand out from previous generations.
I already own a Kindle Fire 7”, which I use everyday, so when I was given the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9” as a gift, I was very excited because the screen is so much larger and makes it perfect for watching movies at home or on the go.
I would like to share with you my experience using the Kindle Fire HDX and provide more insight into its many useful features, functionality, and why it is, in my opinion, one of the most innovative tablets Amazon has introduced thus far.
The first thing that I think makes the HDX 8.9” shine is the extra large screen/display. It has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and pixel density of 339 ppi, which is greater than any other Kindle Fire Tablet and is greater than standard HD, delivering an excellent multimedia experience. The HDX display is vibrant, brilliant, clear, beautiful, and makes images, videos, and movies appear bright and lifelike, because it has an astounding 4 million pixels.
The Kindle HDX 8.9” has a state-of-the-art Quad-Core 2.2 GHz processor that is super fast and three times more powerful than previous generations, making browsing the internet quick and practically effortless with an innovative dual band, dual antenna Wi-Fi system, which eliminates slow downloading, slow page loads, and dropped off connections. This new feature delivers faster media streaming, better performance, and a better online browsing, video, and gaming experience.
I love the built in front-facing 720p HD and rear-facing (with LED flash) 8 MP cameras, which give the ability to take pictures, shoot videos, or get in touch with family and friends via Skype. Pictures can also be shared immediately on Facebook or sent by email. All of these unique features are only available on the HDX 8.9” and make it one of the best tablets for avid photographers or videographers.
The HDX has a lightweight design, weighing only 13.2 oz.; however, I needed to use a well made cover to help protect the device from bumps and scratches. I have an Amazon Origami Cover and I highly recommend it, because it provides much needed protection for the Kindle and protects it from being damaged by daily use. The cover has a sturdy feel and allows you to stand the Kindle HDX in an upright position on a flat surface and folds into a portrait or landscape mode for hands-free viewing.
The sound quality is superb it comes equipped with Dolby Digital Plus, which creates an enveloping sound that is crisp and clear, with or without head phones.
Equipped with better power management technology, the Kindle Fire HDX yields approximately 12 hours of web surfing, listening to music, reading, or watching videos and when only reading, the device quickly powers down idle system elements, extending battery life to an estimated 18 hours.
Another cool feature of the Kindle Fire HDX is a “Mayday” button. When the Mayday button is pushed, you are instantly, within 15 seconds, connected to a live Amazon tech support representative that will answer questions, provide guidance, and help assist with important features by drawing on your screen or do certain tasks for you. You can see the tech support representative, but they cannot see you. The Amazon Tech support is 100% free and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year long.
One of my favorite additions to the Kindle Fire is Amazon Prime. You can try it for free for 30 days and it makes using the device even more fun and exciting, because with Prime, you can borrow books for free, enjoy unlimited streaming of popular movies and TV shows, and get free 2 day shipping on more than a million products. Prime TV Shows and movies can be downloaded to the Kindle Fire HDX and can be watched anywhere, even without an internet connection.
I have tried Prime from Amazon for free and have been able to download movies, music, and books. I will say that the display on the Kindle HDX are superb, the sound is clear, and the download/streaming process is easy and smooth. The colors on even the most bland movie appear vibrant, realistic, and beautiful, which make the viewing experience even more enjoyable.
This Kindle HDX has 16 GB of space, but I do not recommend downloading too many apps to the device, because it might overload the machine. To help prevent the device from getting overloaded, the Kindle comes with free unlimited cloud storage. It doesn’t take up space on the device and it stores about 2,000 photos, 250 songs, and let’s you synchronize content with other Kindle devices that you own. Since I am a Prime member, I can stream hundreds of videos from the Amazon prime store, many of them are free. I do not play many games or download a lot of apps, but there are more than 100,000 to choose from in the app store on Amazon.com, which is more than enough to keep me busy.
In order to prevent programs from taking to much space on my device, I downloaded a free app from Amazon that cleans and frees up any unnecessary programs that are taking up too much space.
For people who like to write and organize important information, the HDX has Outlook, Office Suite, Gmail, and calendar support. All of these features help me to stay productive in my business and in my writing.
The Kindle HDX is available in two sizes- 7” and 8.9”. The 8.9” weighs about 13.2 ounces and is lighter than previous generations of Kindle devices, however, with the Origami Cover, the device feels heavier than my older Kindle Fire HD 7”. Without the cover, the tablet feels very light with a sleeker appearance than the older models.
The Kindle Fire HDX reminds me of a mini computer, movie theater, photo shop, and television all in one small, easy to use, and portable tablet.
I love using my Kindle HDX every day. It is a high quality tablet that does and offers so much with a beautiful display, technologically advanced features, fast Wi-Fi, long battery life, and excellent performance that is consistent, reliable, and like no other.
