Fagor Lux Multi-Cooker 6 qt (Silver)

Quick, fast, easy, and convenient is what I want when cooking food and I have found that with the Fagor Lux Multi-Cooker.

I never owned or used a multi-cooker prior to the Fagor Lux, so when I was given one as a gift, I was immediately pleased with it, but I needed to take some time and follow the directions that came with the appliance to really experience excellent results in making a variety of food dishes.

The Fagor Lux Multi-Cooker that I have comes in a 6 qt size and is silver in color.  It can pressure cook, slow cook, and is also a rice cooker and yogurt maker.

Fagor makes great kitchen appliances and the Lux Multi-Cooker does so many things. The pressure cooker has a high and low setting, while the rice cooker has three functions for white rice, brown rice, and risotto, the slow cooker has a high and low setting, and the yogurt maker has an incubate function to  pasteurize milk.

When making spaghetti, I first remove the inner container, fill it with my favorite pasta, add some sauce, cheese, onions, and cover the ingredients with water.  I do not fill up the container with too much water, but just enough to cover the ingredients.  I put the container back inside the pressure cooker and re-position the air tight lid to lock it into place. I make sure that the steam seal at the top is completely closed, because if it is not, when the pressure cooker gets really hot, steam can escape and I do not want that to happen.  Then I select the pressure cooker setting and set the timer for 6 minutes. After about 6 minutes the spaghetti is done.  I either let the steam out naturally or I will open the top latch to let the steam escape quickly, but when I do that, I usually will place a small wash cloth over the escape hatch so that the steam will be more controlled. This is not really necessary, but I like to do that.

I enjoy making spaghetti in the Fagor Lux Multi-Cooker, because I do not need to watch the food being cooked on a stove nor do I need to strain or constantly stir the pasta. Using a traditional stove makes the entire kitchen feel very warm, but the multi-cooker makes cooking spaghetti and a variety of pasta dishes quickly, easily, and keeps my kitchen at a comfortable temperature.

Not only have I made spaghetti, but I have also used the multi-cooker to cook black beans, greens, steel cut oats, and zucchini noodles.  I will say that when cooking black beans without soaking them first, it takes around 75 minutes for the beans to be cooked thoroughly, but it should take less time if the beans are pre-soaked before cooking.

If you can’t eat the meal that you prepared right away, the multi-cooker has a warmer and timer to keep food nice and warm at a perfect temperature without burning it.  After turning the appliance off, I take out the removable parts and wash them in the sink, which is so easy to clean.
